Signs your girlfriend is attracted to your friend

1. She gets extra protective towards her phone

It’s normal for couples to not have an issue with each other having access to each other’s phones. That shows that there’s loyalty in the relationship and there is nothing to hide.

But also, in some relationships, some couples actually set boundaries towards checking each other’s phones. And there’s no problem in that because everyone has the right to their own privacy.

But regardless of which you both have in your relationship, one of the signs that your girlfriend might be attracted to someone else is when you notice her starting to get extra protective than normal towards her phone. This sudden change in phone habits can be a red flag.

For example, when you notice that whenever her phone buzzes or she receives a message, she quickly turns it away from you or keeps it face down or doesn’t trust you enough that she even takes her phone to the toilet whenever she’s going there.

This behavior suggests that she might be exchanging intimate or flirtatious messages with someone else, possibly the guy she’s interested in.

2. There’s sudden change in her appearance

If your girlfriend isn’t the type that usually dresses up to par whenever she’s going out, either to work or maybe a friend’s hangout, and you suddenly start noticing a drastic shift in her usual style, along with a sudden increase in her spending to get new stuff, like getting new clothes or having a makeup kit overhaul, or she even starts increasing the number of times she visits the gym, that could be a sign she’s trying to impress some guy.

3. She flirts with a guy in front of you

Imagine you’re at a party with your girlfriend, and she starts laughing at a random guy’s jokes or a close friend’s jokes a little too enthusiastically, and could even be touching his arm casually, and making prolonged eye contact. And you’re damn sure that there’s no way she would show that same affection if you were the person that made that joke.

She might even subtly compliment him or playfully tease him. This behavior could indicate that she’s attracted to the guy and potentially interested in pursuing something beyond friendship.

4. She cancels plans at the last minute

You’ve made plans for a special date night with your girlfriend, but just as you’re about to head out, she texts you saying she’s not feeling well and needs to cancel. But that’s not all, it starts becoming a repeated pattern, especially when you’ve planned something just for the two of you.

And who knows, she already could be cheating on you and spending time with the other guy, or she may have become tired of spending time with you because her feelings for him are becoming more significant

5. She lies about her whereabouts

You planned a quiet evening at home with your girlfriend, which she might be aware of, but when you try to reach her, she doesn’t pick up her phone or worse, she picks up and tells you that she is in the middle of something important and you shouldn’t bother her.

Eventually, she texts you saying she’s going to be staying late at work to finish a project. However, you later find out from a mutual friend or social media that she was actually spotted at a local bar with the guy she’s been showing interest in.

This deceitful behavior suggests that she’s intentionally hiding her interactions with the other guy from you, possibly because she feels guilty or knows it would upset you.

6. She gets defensive about another guy

When your girlfriend suddenly goes from backing you when you have issues with guys to suddenly supporting them, something might be up.

For instance, if you tell your girlfriend that a guy crossed a line, and she used to always support you when you had any issues with him, but now she immediately jumps to his defense, pointing out all the negative behaviors you have and being the reason you always have issues with people, even when it’s clear that he’s in the wrong.

When you notice this attitude, it could mean that she’s developed feelings for him and is trying to protect him, even at the expense of your feelings.

7. She gets less interested in physical intimacy

Your relationship with your girlfriend was previously filled with kisses, hugs, and even cuddles sometimes. But all of a sudden, she seems distant and uninterested in having any form of physical contact with you. And whenever you try to initiate intimacy, she either brushes it off or comes up with excuses to avoid it.

This change in behavior could indicate that her feelings for the other guy are growing stronger, causing her to lose interest in being intimate with you.

It might mean that she’s emotionally investing more in him, leading to a decrease in the emotional and physical connection between you two.

8. She talks about the same guy constantly

You’d notice that whenever there’s any tension or disagreement between you and your girlfriend, she starts mentioning the other guy she’s interested in.

For example, if you unintentionally say something that upsets her, she might respond by saying, “Well, at least [the other guy] would understand me,” or “I wish [the other guy] were here; he knows how to treat me right.”

She brings up his name repeatedly in various contexts, even when it’s unrelated to the conversation at hand.

9. She loses interest in your hobbies

Cooking a meal together on the weekends might have been your thing, or just spending the whole Friday night binge watching your favorite sitcom series movies, or even going on an evening walk together. But all of a sudden, she’d seem less interested and engaged than before.

She would make excuses to avoid participating or would just simply go through the activity without the same level of enjoyment like before.

10. She avoids talking about the future

You both might have had a series of previous conversations about eventually ending up together and how many kids you’d want to have, or buying a house, or moving in together, or even planning vacations together to have during a holiday.

But all of a sudden, she’s going to seem reluctant to engage in any long-term planning with you. Instead, she’d start avoiding the topic altogether or would change the subject with very obvious disinterest and scolding whenever you bring it up.

She does this because she’s uncertain about where her feelings lie or because she’s considering the possibility of a future with the other guy.

In Conclusion, it’s essential to remember that navigating the complexities of relationships can be challenging, especially when faced with the possibility of your girlfriend liking another guy, someone you know. From changes in her behavior to subtle shifts in her affection, these signs can’t be ignored.

Have a calm talk with her to find out where her loyalty lies without pointing fingers or being assertive. But, keep in mind that whatever happens, your feelings are valid, and you deserve to be in a relationship where you feel valued and respected. By being aware of these signs and taking proactive steps to address them, you’ll be better equipped to navigate the challenges that come your way.

So, take a deep breath, trust your instincts, and remember that you’re not alone in this journey. You’ve got this.

Just a guy who understands
